The PreSonus Eris E7 XT 2-Way Active Near Field Studio Monitor with Waveguide, a nearfield monitor designed to sound good in any location. The monitor offers an exceedingly wide sweet spot, and when it comes to connections, you won't need to scrounge around for adapters, this monitor offers RCA, 1/4" TRS, and XLR jacks.

The Eris E7 XT provides a 6.5" composite woofer and a 1.25" silk-dome tweeter, through which you can push up to 104 dB of sound. This is about 20 dB more than the recommended standard of 83 dB SPL for studio work, so you're more than covered when it comes to volume.

The monitor is an update of a previous design, and one of its most notable new features is its EBM waveguide, fashioned by renowned designer Hugh Sarvis. This waveguide ensures a wider, yet more controlled sweet spot. Now, as you cart about the room, attending to various pieces of gear stashed in the corners, the sound won't shift as much, and you'll get accurate sonic accounting throughout your environment.

The front port is now larger in size, ensuring the 6.5" speaker never sounds muddy. Using high-pass filtering, a midrange bell filter, and a high shelf, you can tune the monitors to your predilections. A separate Acoustic Space switch tailors the frequency response to suit your room placement. The KH 80 DSP has also been developed true to the Neumann philosophy for monitor loudspeakers. Every component, every shape, every signal and every wave motion is a consequence of this philosophy. No form or component is there without reason. There are hundreds of tangible reasons built into the KH 80 DSP, which all stand for exceptionally pure and neutral sound. These include, for example, curvatures of the housing that reduce edge diffraction. Also included is the pistonic output of the bass driver which does not give rise to harmonic distortions, even with the highest sound peaks. Some of these reasons are obvious in the KH 80. The Neumann KH 310 D is a three-way tri-amplified monitor with thermally protected Class AB amplifiers (210 W and two times 90 W). Its Mathematically Modeled Dispersion (MMD) waveguide delivers sound waves into the room with superior accuracy. The drivers are modeled using Neumann's in-house developed software, which reduces non-linear distortion in every situation. Sound distributed in a horizontally precise manner ensures flexibility in the listening position; the narrower vertical dispersion reduces the negative effects of nearby reflections, for example from a desk or mixing console. The precisely controlled dispersion characteristics optimize reproduction in different room configurations and the response is extremely adaptable through various acoustical control settings.

The drivers were designed using modeling techniques to minimize non-linear (inter-modulation) distortion, and each driver has an independent thermo limiter to protect the voice coils. It can be used as a near-field monitor, as a front loudspeaker in mid-sized multi-channel, or as a rear loudspeaker in a larger multi-channel system for project, music, broadcast centers, OB vans, and post production studios for tracking, mixing, and mastering.

The speaker features both analog and daisy-chainable digital BNC I/O for flexible digital inter-connectivity (24 bit, 192 kHz, AES3, and S/P-DIF). It also features digital Lipsync delay (from 0 to 10/12 frames) for aligning audio and video signals as well as digital time-of-flight delay (from 0 to 400 ms) to compensate for different listening distances.

The front panel is made from one piece without discontinuities to reduce diffraction with protective metal grills and the cabinet is made of magnetically shielded aluminum to reduce resonances, improve heat dissipation, and extend the operating lifetime of the unit.

The system delivers a free field frequency response of 34 to 21,000 Hz with 4-position bass, low-mid, and treble acoustical controls for tailoring the response to different rooms and an input gain control from 0 to -15 dB. The front panel Neumann logo functions as an LED indicator for power and clip/limiting but can also be dimmed for light applications and for use when placed behind screens. A variety of wall, ceiling, truss, subwoofer, stand, and surface mounting options are available as well as transportation options through a range of accessories (sold separately).
