Intended primarily for use with electric guitar, the Electro-Harmonix Crayon 69 is a full-range overdrive pedal with bass and treble controls for adding more color to a wide variety of overdriven and distorted tones. It can add subtle dirt, and even lend some warmth to a single-coil pickup in the bridge position, emphasizing the treble range with a little buzz, and without ever sounding harsh—or even achieving a garage-rocky, dirty mid-boost by rolling back the levels of both bass and treble.
Four knobs are available for your control—Drive, Volume, Bass, and Treble. Drive dictates the amount of overdrive, Volume provides level control, and the other two shape the timbre of your sound. True bypass circuitry ensures that in bypass mode, your signal is truly unprocessed. The pedal sounds warm and lush on its own, but also plays well with other stompboxes on the board for stacking effects or when driving another overdrive pedal.
This is a mono pedal, with one 1/4” instrument input and one 1/4" instrument output. It runs on the included 9V battery, though it will also work with the separately available Electro-Harmonix 9.6 VDC 200mA power supply. The only difference between the Crayon 69 and the Crayon 76 is cosmetic, so choose whichever design best suits your look—or get both and use them together with different settings to complement each other.
